Good Websites finding Used Cars
Autotrader – Search Engine for Used Cars
If you are looking to buy a used car, then one of the best websites to visit is Autotrader. Like the car selling magazine of the same name, the Autotrader website has a huge range of vehicles available. You can limit the cars using criteria such as distance from the user, make and model, price, age, mileage, transmission, colour and other factors. Then search to see a list of cars that meet your needs. Links are then provided to either the dealer’s website or contact details for a private seller. The website has access to over 400,000 vehicles, so will be able to find many results for most buyers.
If you know which brand of car you would like to buy, then another way to find your next used car is to search on the manufacturer’s own website. They will usually have a ‘Dealer locator’ tab or similar, which will enable you to find authorised used car dealers in your local area. For example, for Renault cars, visit www.renault.co.uk then click Used Vehicles to visit http://usedcars.renault.co.uk/. You can then select the Renault model that interests you and enter your postcode to available used cars in your local area. Similar searches for other car manufacturers are well worth trying to find specific cars to view.
Classified Advertisements for Used Cars
Another website that is often used to sell used cars is Ebay. Visit http://www.ebay.co.uk/motors to search for cars that are up for sale currently. Their search engine allows you to search by make, model and distance. Unlike other parts of Ebay, most cars are listed as classified adverts, rather than up for auction. Typically you will then use the contact details provided to contact the seller yourself to then view the vehicle.
Gumtree also provide classified adverts for a wide number of items, including used cars. Visit http://www.gumtree.com/cars to start a search. You can then input a keyword and your postcode plus distance to see if they have any cars listed in your area. Gumtree doesn’t have such a comprehensive list of cars as Autotrader but it is a good way to see cars from local small dealers or private sellers. You will then need to contact the seller to arrange to view a car and then make arrangements offline, if you wish to purchase.
There are other sites that list classified adverts for used cars such as http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk/. This website also provides advice guides, which are a good read, particularly if it is the first time that you have a bought a used car privately. Study their guides for some handy hints and tips.
